Roselia “MamaChela” Barrios Campos, age 98, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Guatemala, where she resided for most of her life, Roselia later moved to Boston to live with her children. Her life was a testament to strength, perseverance, and unyielding love.
At the age of 77, Roselia made the courageous decision to leave her lifelong home in Guatemala and move to the United States. Her family meant everything to her, and this transition allowed her to spend cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and eventually, her great-grandchildren. Despite facing many hardships, Roselia remained a positive and loving presence, welcoming everyone and engaging with anyone who lent an ear.
Roselia is predeceased by her parents, Candelario Barrios and Laura Campos, and her sons, Orlando and Leonel. She is survived by her five children: Carlos, Edelma, Laura, Amilcar, and Roberto; her three grandchildren: Gianna, Angel Roberto, and Laura Carolina; and her four great-grandchildren: Gianluca, Randy, Gabriella, and Alessandro.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 10 a.m. to noon at Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, Boston, MA 02127.
Her burial will take place in Guatemala, where she will be laid to rest at Cementerio General de Quetzaltenango, her eternal resting place.
