Alphonso and his grandparents relocated to Boston, Massachusetts in 1957 where he spent his adolescent years surrounded by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins who he also considered his siblings.

Alphonso attended Boston Trade High School where he was awarded his diploma in 1968. Soon after graduation he entered the Joint Apprentice Training Committee (JATC) at Local 103 and became a licensed electrician.

Alphonso met the love of his life Darcel Jackson in 1972. They were married on August 27, 1977, in Windham, NH. He transformed the meaning of Husband, Father, and Grandfather in all the ways he showed up and provided for his family throughout his life - they were always his number one priority.

Alphonso spent 22 years of his career with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and 30 years with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) from which he retired in 2012.

Alphonso, also lovingly known as Al, Funzie, Dad & Pop Pop, was always the most loving and charismatic person in the room. If Al was going to be there, you knew you were going to laugh and have a good time. He was a loyal provider to his beloved wife and family and showed unwavering support for all the people he loved. Al was also known for his love of cars with big wheels, fishing, New England sports, pool parties and cookouts at 22 Tenth Ave., dominating in cards and billiards, but most of all spending time with his family, especially his wife, children, grandchildren, cousins and small group of friends.

Alphonso is survived by his wife of 47 years/ together for 52 years Darcel Boone, his children Joseph Boone Sr. (Marcia), Tchad Boone Sr. (Daniella), Duane Boone Sr. (Ramona) and Jessika Boone, his grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Jahari, Aneka, Tchad Jr., Angel-Gabrielle, Estraya, Denia, Duane Jr., Mason and Amir. Al will be remembered by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, family and friends for his loving spirit, comedy, loyalty, and generosity.
