Sheila (Lavery) Parker, 83, of Plymouth passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, at her home. Sheila was married for 49 years to Elwyn R. Parker, who passed away in 2013.
Born in Malone, NY on June 29, 1941, Sheila was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Mary Raphaela (Walsh) Lavery, and sister of the late Marilyn Lavery Jones.
Prior to moving to Plymouth, Sheila was a resident of Bellingham for 50 years.
Sheila graduated from Chateaugay High School in 1959. She completed a cardiac technician program in Boston and worked for a cardiologist in Albany NY prior to marrying Elwyn and moving to Massachusetts.
Sheila was primarily a stay-at-home mother, but in her children’s later years, worked as a Home Health Aide in the Bellingham area. She developed strong bonds with the elderly residents in her care, assisting them during non-working hours and keeping in close contact.
Sheila served for many years as an election volunteer in Bellingham. She also volunteered for the local FISH (Friendly Independent Sympathetic Help) program, assisting residents in need of transport to medical appointments. Sheila and Elwyn were active congregants in several local Christian churches. Sheila’s true passion was caring for her family.
Sheila is survived by three children: Pamela L. Parker and her partner, George Gordan, of Glens Falls, NY; Patrick E. Parker and his wife, Jacqueline, of East Greenwich, RI; Mary Ellen Bouve and her husband, Richard, of Plymouth; as well as six grandchildren: Melissa, Kevin, Rose, Hannah, Dessa, and Cristos, and four great-grandchildren: Clark, Claire, Callum, and Penny.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sheila’s funeral service on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Medway.
