Obituary

Mrs. Carol A. (O’Connell) Ogden, a vibrant spirit with an infectious energy for life, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024 at 83 years old.

Carol was a beloved wife to her husband, Dick Ogden, of 62 years, and a resident of Shapleigh, Maine at the time of her death. She is leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and creativity as the mother of Debbie and her husband Phil Henault of Medway, Ric and his wife Anne Ogden of Andover, and Mary and her husband Andy Sakellarios of Andover. Carol was the sister of Edgar O’Connell of Glendale, AZ and of the late Walter O’Connell. She is survived by nine grandchildren: Rob Henault; Michelle, her husband Daniel, and their son Marshall Moran; Spenser, Benjamin, and Kinsey Ogden; Carly Sakellarios and her husband Timothy Yaghmoorian; and Maggie, Lindsay, and Luke Sakellarios. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Carol’s creativity was evident in the extra hairpin lace loom she kept in her pocketbook, as she was dedicated to sharing the art of crafting with others. She enjoyed rug braiding, crocheting, embroidery, and any craft that sparked her interest. Her favorite tools were duct tape and a glue gun, and she enjoyed trips to Home Depot, Lowes, and Michael’s. She embraced the "dump method" for her baking, and ensured that every dessert was made with love and a touch of fun! She had a love for word searches and Sudoku puzzles, and her playful spirit was often displayed as she taught her grandchildren the skill of putting their tongues to their noses.

A true lover of the outdoors, Carol thrived on activities like kayaking, biking, golfing, tennis, boating, waterskiing with enthusiasm, and famously “mucking the lake.” She found delight in taking walks by collecting rocks, driftwood, shark teeth, and sand dollars. Whether it was playing and laughing with her nine grandchildren or enjoying popcorn while looking over the lake with her husband Dick, her home was always filled with energy, warmth, and joy.

With a heart dedicated to service, Carol, alongside Dick, led the senior food program for York County, Maine, exemplifying her commitment to feeding the hungry. Carol’s faith was not only evident in her actions, but also by sharing daily morning and evening prayers with her husband. She believed in the power of kindness, always greeting everyone with a compliment and a smile.

Carol lived life to the fullest, sharing her love generously and reminding all of us to embrace joy in every moment. Her laughter and light will be deeply missed by all who carry her memory forward.

Carol’s Funeral Mass, where friends and family can gather to honor the joy she brought into our lives, will be at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggett's Pond Road in Andover, MA on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 10:30.
