Michael Peter Minerva, age 74, of Somersworth, New Hampshire, passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was a native of Avon, Massachusetts.
Born in Brockton, MA on September 17, 1950, he was a loving son of the late Michael T. and Virginia L. (Payson) Minerva.
Michael grew up in Avon. His family later moved to the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston and in 1968, he graduated from Roslindale High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1970-1973 and later returned to school to become a registered nurse.
The majority of Michael’s working career was spent traveling throughout the country as a registered nurse. He had made his home in New Hampshire for the past thirty-seven years and following church on Sunday, he and his friend Steve enjoyed returning to Michaels home for a good cup of coffee and a cigar. Mike also had an adventurous side which included attending Woodstock, sky diving, traveling and collecting guns and knives.
He is survived by his children, Eric, Jennifer, Daniel and Michael. He was loving brother of Chikki Newport of Taunton and her late husband Patrick Newport. He was the cherished uncle of Michael Newport and his wife Debby of Taunton and Nikki Archer and her husband Frank of Attleboro. He was the great uncle of Gabby Archer and Travis Newport. He was the dear friend of forty years of Steve Riely of Somersworth, NH. He was the great friend of Marie Stickles, who gave him exceptional care and support throughout the years of his illness. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many cousins including Tammi Davies of Brockton.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, November 6th from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours on Wednesday, November 6th at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rock Ridge Cemetery in Sharon.
