Joy H. (Hughes) McGinn, 92, of Worcester died on Saturday, October 26th in AdviniaCare of Northbridge. Her husband of 24 years Howard B. McGinn, Jr. died in 1977. She leaves two sons, Howard McGinn and his wife, Jayne of Paxton and Paul McGinn and his wife, Phyllis of Florida; a daughter, Gail Taylor of Webster; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, May Foy; a son-in-law, James Taylor; and her long-term companion, Antonio Delgado.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Harold and Ethel (Partridge) Hughes and retired from Holy Cross College in 1997. Joy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved taking rides in the car, enjoying the changing scenery and quiet moments on the road. In her younger years, she had a passion for puzzles and embroidery, spending many peaceful hours immersed in these hobbies.
Her warmth, faith, and love for life will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Joy’s legacy of devotion and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 1st from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, 1 W Main Street, Spencer.
