Ann M. McGovern, 82

Dateline: Norton, MA

Ann M. (Dunn) McGovern, age 82, of Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late William M. McGovern, Jr., to whom she was wed for fifty-eight years at the time of his death on November 13, 2022.

Born in Somerville, MA on April 3, 1942, she was a loving daughter of the late Walter and Catherine (McGonagle) Dunn.

Ann grew up in the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston and was a graduate of Saint Catherine’s School in Boston. She continued her studies, receiving a certificate as a dental assistant.

Ann’s adoring family was the essence and priority of her life. She was a dedicated homemaker and the proud former owner of Personnel Touches Cleaning Services. She had made her home in Norton for the past forty years and was a former sixteen-year resident of Foxborough.

A communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton, Mrs. McGovern had a talent for interior design and treasured times spent at the beach, especially the memories created at Green Harbor in Marshfield. She was a lover of all music in general, enjoyed the holidays spent with family and filling her home with the scent of her exceptional cooking skills.

She is survived by her devoted children, Michelle A. McGovern-Eastman and her partner Brian Cook of Norton, Suzanne McGovern and her partner Michael Tubin of Plymouth, Paul M. McGovern of Norton and Katherine and Brian M. McGovern and his wife Denise of Wilmington, NC. She was the cherished grandmother of Brenden Howarth, Daniel Eastman, Heather Celotto, Shannon Collins, Ethan Howarth, Nolan McGovern, Lauren Dunn, Owen McGovern, Caitlin McGovern and Connor McGovern. She was the dear sister of Walter Dunn of Hull, the sister-in-law of Stephen McGovern and his wife Veronica of Norton, the aunt of Christine Dennehy and her husband Steven of Norton, the great aunt of Christopher Dennehy of Norton and the cousin of Jamie Underwood of Norfolk.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, November 3rd from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 4th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
