Garland, Natalie (Smith) of North Hill, Needham, October 21, 2024. Age 93. Formerly of Wellesley. Beloved wife of David W. Garland for over 60 years. Devoted mother of Edward R. “Ted” Garland of Natick and fiancé Elizabeth McElroy; Peter T. Garland and wife Melissa of Old Lyme, CT; and Dwight W. Garland and wife Suzanne of Wellesley. Grandmother to Matthew, Katherine, Sally, Shannon, Roger, Madison, Christopher, Michael, and Peter. Great grandmother to Jamie, Cooper and Benjamin. Sister of David Smith, Joan Navin, and Ron Perkins. Predeceased by husband, David, daughter-in-law, Mary Garland (Ted’s wife), granddaughter Chelsea, and brother, Neil Smith.
Natalie was a retired elementary school and special needs teacher in Wellesley for over 20 years. Graduate of Wheelock College, class of 1953 and Dana Hall, class of 1949. Former secretary at Wellesley Hills Congregational Church for 8 years after retirement.

Natalie was known for her warm smile, magical hugs, and devotion to her family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always offering guidance, support, and affection. Whether as a teacher, mother, friend or acquaintance, Natalie’s unwavering love and care enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Memorial Service at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, 207 Washington St. (RT 16) Wellesley, on Friday, November 8 at 2:00 PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Save the Children Fund.
