Obituary

Clare Frances DiGiovanni, of Framingham, formerly of Sudbury and Newton, peacefully passed away on October 12, 2024, at the age of 64, after a long, courageous journey with cancer. Beloved daughter of the late Louis and Mary DiGiovanni and beloved mother of David Korzeniowski of Brighton and Mary Korzeniowski of Clinton, Clare is survived by her siblings Thomas DiGiovanni and his wife Carol, Gemma DiGiovanni, Stephen DiGiovanni, Jude DiGiovanni, Catherine Esposito and her husband Joseph, Matthew DiGiovanni and his wife Fiorella, Maria DiGiovanni, John DiGiovanni and his wife Anne, and Christopher DiGiovanni as well as many nieces, nephews and grandnieces.

Clare was educated at Boston College where she obtained a degree in communications. She worked at various academic institutions, including the Boston College School of Nursing and Regis College, as well as for the Pregnancy Help Office of the Archdiocese of Boston in Natick. Clare spent over 12 years in service of the Archdiocese, actively living her Catholic faith and helping women and children in need.

Clare saw the true, the good, and the beautiful in the light of Christ and the Blessed Mother. Her life was one of deep faith. Clare’s nature was full of great generosity towards her family, friends, neighbors, and religious and healthcare communities. A social butterfly, she could make a friend anywhere and everywhere, and she regularly did. From learning people’s names in the elevator to sparking conversations with strangers at the airport, she was always eager to get to know those around her. Clare loved her children David and Mary so much. They were the greatest gifts in her life. Clare loved the ocean, roses, and classic movies, particularly ones that starred Sydney Poitier. She was an amazing cook, carrying on traditions and recipes that she learned from her mother, Mary, such as pasta and meatballs and stuffed beef tenderloin. She was a great friend, an assertive “Boston” driver, and had stellar penmanship. On a recent family trip to Montana, she surprised everyone when she went skydiving with her son and her nieces and nephews.

Clare continued to live her values and grow after and through her cancer diagnosis. An avid reader and constantly curious, she spent time pouring through the Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska and the Catechism of the Catholic Church in the final years and months of her life. Even after concluding her work in the Archdiocese, she volunteered her time in her church community making rosaries by hand for those who would use them.

Clare was always willing to help anyone in need and loved life. She will be greatly missed. Clare will be buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge following a private funeral mass. A memorial mass and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: Pregnancy Help Boston, 61 South Ave. Natick, MA 01760 or www.pregnancyhelpboston.org.
