Sandra M. (Heelen) Jarasitis, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 83 years of age.
Sandra was born in Boston on November 29, 1940, a daughter of the late John Heelen and Mary (Connolly) Heelen. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1958 and was a very proud member and would remind you till this day of the cheerleading team for the high school. Sandra was a dedicated homemaker all of her adult life where she took great pride taking care of her husband, children and in later years her grandchildren.
Sandra was a dedicated friend and member of the "Church Ladies of St. Mary's", and she enjoyed all the companionship she experienced throughout the years with the wonderful women who dedicated themselves to St. Mary's Church in Charlestown. She was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association. She was a longtime member along with her husband Allen at Oakley Country Club in Watertown. She enjoyed her summer vacations at Hampton Beach and Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. She enjoyed skiing during the winter and most importantly she enjoyed the winter months with her husband Allen where they cherished those warm months of retirement.
Sandra is the beloved wife of 59 years to the late Honorable Allen J. Jarasitis Retired Associate Justice of Massachusetts Trial Court. She is the devoted mother of Allison McGonagle and her husband Patrick of Reading, Jeffrey Jarasitis and his wife Kelli of Stoughton and Gregory Jarasitis of California. She is the World's Best Grandma to Olivia, Alexander, Madeline, Jake and Patrick IV. She is the sister of the late Judy Fessenden, Patty Heelen, Jack Heelen and Jim Heelen. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sandra's Funeral Mass on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2024, at 12 NOON in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. Her burial is private. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
