Adelheid Clairmont, 94, of Norwell passed away Tuesday October 22, 2024.
Adelheid was fondly known as Adi or Heidi to her friends, Mom to her children, and known as our beloved Oma to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was born in a small village in the Alps of Austria in 1930 where she had 10 brothers and sisters. She was trained to be a seamstress at a young age and met her husband George Clairmont of Brockton while he served in the Central Intelligence Corps of the US Army in Salzburg. They married in Austria and returned to Brockton Massachusetts where she raised 4 children, established a sewing, dressmaking, and Austrian cooking. Her life, recipes and sewing skills were noted the Ladies Home Journal magazine February 1961 in an article titled “How America Spends Its Money”. After the untimely death of her husband in 1970 she worked tirelessly to make sure her 4 children went on to college and further careers. She will be remembered for her kindness, graciousness, beautiful smile, and infectious laugh.
She was predeceased by her husband Attorney George Clairmont of Brockton, her parents Franz and Adelheid Hochreiter of Austria, and all her 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children George Clairmont MD and his wife Frances Clairmont DMD of Norwell, Stephen Clairmont and his wife Nancy of Norwell, David Clairmont and his wife Elizabeth of Hudson NH, and Debra Clairmont JD of Sandpoint Idaho; her grandchildren Katherine Cunningham and her husband Derek, Antonino Sambataro and his wife Maria of Boston, Vincenza Sambataro of Wayland, Amanda Clairmont JD and her husband Matt Teatom of NH, Marissa Clairmont of NH, Travis Talaska and his wife Alison of Idaho, Dylan Talaska and his partner Shannon Pujol of Portland Oregon; her great grandchildren Mya, Mason, Mikey, Stella, and Theo; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She will be deeply missed by all who have known her. May her memory be eternal.
