Obituary

Mario A. Verna 86, of Franklin died Sunday July 30, 2006 at the Franklin Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Evelyn J. (Gaudet) Verna.
Born in Franklin March 11, 1920 a son of the late John and Vincinzina (Tomasi) Verna, he was a lifelong town resident.
He was educated in Franklin public schools, and was a retired union construction laborer.
During World War ll he served in the United States Army. He attained the rank of Private, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in September 1943.
He was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens The American Association of Retired Persons, and was a member of St. Mary’s Church. He enjoyed all sports, especially football and baseball.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a brother Joseph Verna of Franklin.
He was the brother of the late Antionette Wenclawick and Elizabeth “Lee” Prioriello.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral On Thursday August 3, 2006 at 8:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. with a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq. at 9AM. Burial will follow in the family lot in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland, RI.
Calling hours are Wednesday Aug. 2, 2006 from 2-5PM at the funeral home.
