Michael J. Steele, age 63, of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Milton Hospital in Milton.
Born in Boston, MA on July 17, 1961, he was a loving son of the late Robert F. and Mary C. (Lydon) Steele.
Mike grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School. A longtime resident of Dorchester, he had made his home in Quincy for the past six years and prior to retiring, was employed as an inspector for the City of Boston Water and Sewer Department.
Michael’s love for family and friends was unconditional. His favorite times spent were those amongst his brother and best friend Danny and at family gatherings in Mansfield, which included many a great barbecue. He was a longtime friend of Bill W. and valued lifelong friendships in Dorchester, as well as at work. Mike’s memory will last on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He was the devoted father of Patrick Yanovitch and his wife Amanda of Tewksbury. He was the dear and much-loved brother of Kathleen M. Smolinski and her husband John of Mansfield, Maryann Steele of Merrimac and her late husband Skip Hall, Carol A. Ledoux and her husband Joseph of Gorham, Maine, Daniel W. Steele and his wife Sharon of Rockland and the late Robert F. Steele, who is survived by his wife Debra Steele of Braintree. He was the cherished and loving uncle of Ryan, Daniel, Emily, Michael, Lexee, Shawna, Christopher, Bailey and the late Rob Steele.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, October 29th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 30th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
