Melvin “Mel” Richard Meehan Jr, age 76, passed away the morning of October 22, 2024.
He was born November 26, 1947, in Weymouth, MA to Ruth and Melvin Meehan Sr. He graduated from Braintree High School and later would go on to follow a path in sports broadcasting.
Mel enlisted to service in Vietnam where he served as a Sargent in the Army supervising communications and receiving a National Defense service medal.
He was a man of the community seemingly known and loved by all. He enjoyed nothing more than watching his kids and grandkids grow up and did so until his last days. He was a devout husband, father and fan of all things New England sports.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Susanna Meehan, brothers Dennis, Robert and late Bruce Meehan, sons Randy and Matthew Meehan, his daughters Shanna, Melissa and Michelle Meehan as well as his grandchildren Logan, Dustin, Jacksons, Christian, Daygen, Mikena and William, as well as many nieces and nephews.
To know Mel Meehan was a gift- a man whose smile never left his face, who always had time to ask about your family or life. He will be truly missed.
