Obituary

Hubbardston – James B. Murphy III, 74, of Hubbardston and formerly of Worcester, passed away in his home on Friday, October 18, 2024.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his son, Raymond Mancini and his wife, Stefanie of Charlton; a brother, Steven Murphy of Worcester; two sisters, Sandra Hammond of Worcester and Karen Kowalewski of Leicester; three grandchildren, Joseph Mancini, Anna Mancini and Thomas Mancini and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was born in Worcester, son of the late James B. Murphy and Jeanne H. (Rogers) Lucey. He graduated from South High School in Worcester and proudly served on the USS Forrest Royal in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a self-employed contractor, a commercial fisherman and as a machinist for New England Knife Company but finished his career and retired from the College of the Holy Cross.

Mr. Murphy was a member of the American Legion Cherry Valley Post #443 and a life member at the Auburn Sportsman’s Club and was an avid fisher and hunter. Jim loved spending time in nature, enjoying his walks in the woods and taking trips to the beach, but he was truly the happiest when he was spending time with his grandchildren.
