Bernard Vivolo, 84, of the North End of Boston, passed away peacefully at Care One Nursing Home in Newton, on Wednesday October 16, 2024, after a life well-lived, filled with love, adventure, laughter and dancing.
Benny was born in Boston on July 18, 1940. He was the son of the late Conchetta (Ferrantino) Vivolo and the late John Vivolo of Boston. Benny was predeceased by his two sisters, Geraldine Vivolo Guarino and Angela Vivolo. Benny is survived by his friends Steven Topazio, Joseph Romano, Anna Perez, and many others.
Benny worked for many years as a hairdresser for the John Dellaria Hair Salon on Newbury Street and taught dance for the Fred Astaire Dance School. He even boasted that he created the dance step known as the Latin Hustle.
Benny affectionately known as “Benny the Blood”, enjoyed good food, parties, dinners with friends, making people laugh and dancing. Those who had the pleasure of meeting Benny knew he was the real deal. He was kind and compassionate and truly cared about the wellbeing of his friends. He had an infectious outlook on life and the goodness of people and referred to his own personality as the Benny bubble.
Following Cremation, calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 9 to 10 AM, in Saint Leonard’s Church, on 320 Hanover Street, North End, Boston, followed by a Mass at 10 AM. Burial will take place at St Michael’s Cemetery, 500 Canterbury Street, Boston, and friends are invited to come.
