Joni L. (Moyer) Putt, 55, of Home, PA passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA.
The daughter of John R. and Betty J. (Leslie) Moyer, she was born on November 19, 1968 in Spangler, PA.
Throughout her childhood, Joni attended the Cherry Tree Presbyterian church with her family. She was a graduate of Harmony High School and played clarinet in the marching band, as well as sang in the school’s choir. After high school, Joni earned a Master’s degree in Criminology from IUP and became a certified paralegal. She went on to work twenty-eight years at the Armstrong-Indiana County Behavioral and Developmental Health Program, where she specialized in housing and quality management.
Her love of music started early and continued all throughout her life. Gifted with an innate talent for music, she learned how to play guitar at an early age by watching her older sister, Diana “DeeDee” Moyer, play. Over the years, Joni would go on to perform at many wedding ceremonies and other events, as well as write and copyright two songs. She also enjoyed other creative activities, such as painting with watercolors, drawing with pastels, creating diamond dot artwork, and tackling home-gardening projects.
Her family would like people to remember Joni as the wonderful, caring, and kind-hearted person she was – someone who would always put others before herself.
Joni is survived by her husband of twenty-eight years, Douglas R. Putt, and her daughter, Aubrie R. Putt, both of Home, PA, as well as her mother-in-law, Myrna Putt of Indiana, PA. She was preceded in death by her sister Diana, her father John, her mother Betty, and her father-in-law Wayne Putt, Sr.
Family and friends will be received from 1-3:00 and 5-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where a 7:00 p.m. funeral service officiated by Pastor Robert Sunseri will immediately follow the evening visitation. Private interment will be at the Citizens Cemetery in Cherry Tree, PA.
