Tavis, Nancy G. (Gallagher) of Wellesley, October 18, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Paul F. Tavis. Loving mother of Michael P. Tavis and his wife Anait of Wellesley, Scott F. Tavis and his wife Liz West of Toronto, Canada, Caroline T. Kelly and her husband Patrick of Moultonborough, NH. Grandmother of Anna, Maddie, Matthew, Nicholas, Sean, Parker, Nicole and Ava. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren. Sister of the late William Gallagher and the late Mariagnes Clifford.
Nancy was always the life of the party. Creating poems, picture books and games with family and her circle of lifelong friends. She truly enjoyed every minute she spent with people, always curious, smiling, laughing her indomitable laugh and ready to have fun. Nancy loved to travel to see family and friends as well as meet new people and seek new adventures around the globe.
Nancy was someone who cared for others deeply. She was always ready to help and support whoever needed it and was known to be generous with her time and effort to uplift and bring joy to other’s lives.
She was a teacher her entire life and always wanted her children and grandchildren to learn and grow continuously. Teaching was her passion and her contribution to countless students young and old who benefited from her attention and focus to their learning. Her teaching journey led her to The Carroll Center where she closed out her career well into her 70s.
Nancy, who went by Grameo after becoming a grandmother, was a person who made sure to let you know how special you were. She had the talent of making people feel like they were the most important person in the room.
Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington Street, Wellesley on Saturday, October 26, from 9am -10:30am followed by a funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Wellesley at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Carrol Center for the Blind at www.carroll.org.
