Obituary

Patrick E. “Paddy D” Delaney, 71, of Worcester died Friday, October 18th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus. He leaves his daughter, Theresa Delaney of Worcester; stepson, James Corrao and his wife, Heidi Fedorczuk of Worcester; two brothers, Brendan Delaney and his companion, Jen Roux, and Brian Delaney and his longtime partner, Sheila Burbank all of Worcester; three sisters, MaryBeth Delaney and her husband, John Dyson, Maureen O’Connor, and Kathleen Delaney all of Worcester; a sister in law, Candace Delaney of Dalton; two grandchildren, Annie Corrao and Dylan Libby; his former wife, Carol (Corrao) Delaney; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Shirley Delaney; two brothers, Terry and Michael; and a sister, Joanne.
He was born in Worcester and graduated from South High School. Patrick, a dedicated and hardworking man, was the proud owner and operator of Shamrock Masonry for over 30 years. Known for his exceptional craftsmanship, he not only excelled in his trade but also mentored many, teaching them the skills needed to become top-tier masons. His impact extended beyond his work as he played a significant role in the recovery community, serving as an inspiring role model and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Patrick’s faith was central to his life, and he cherished attending church regularly. In his younger years, he was an avid athlete, playing ice hockey and achieving the remarkable feat of running five Boston Marathons.
Patrick will be remembered for his generosity, unwavering work ethic, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and mentorship.
His visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue followed by his funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be at a later date.
