Maureen Judith Cassidy, 78, of Windham, NH, passed away Saturday October 19, 2024, at her residence surrounded by loved ones. She was born on February 8, 1946, in Manchester, NH, a daughter of the late Michael and Gladys (Cheney) Skeffington. After growing up in Manchester and raising her family in Winchester, Massachusetts, Maureen had been a resident of Windham for the past 22 years.
Maureen graduated from St Joseph's High School for Girls in Manchester. The baby in a family of nine children, Maureen always wanted a younger sibling, being that her brothers and sisters were between 6 and 19 years older than her… Maureen enjoyed being a bookkeeper throughout her career, before retiring in 2022. She enjoyed baking, holidays (Easter most of all) with family, visiting the white mountains (the old man on the mountain!) and Nubble lighthouse, and a good book. Sipping a nice cup of hot tea, watching the birds feed (and leaves changing colors) and spending time with her grandchildren (her ‘neighbors’) was a perfect day.
Maureen is survived by her son, Scott Cassidy and his wife Kim; two grandchildren, Colin and Clare; her sister, Norma Charest; and her Shih Tzu ‘Cinnaman’. Maureen was predeceased by her son, Kevin Cassidy; brothers, John and William Skeffington; and her sisters, Anne Margaret Prendergast, Virginia Myette, Mary Trumble, Helen Grady, and Jean O’Neil Skeffington.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 9:00am to 11:00am in the Peabody Funeral Home, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH. A graveside service for Maureen will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 686 Washington St, Winchester, MA 01890.
