Donald Lamar Harper, 74, of Tifton passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Victory Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Jim Constable and the Rev. Dan Eidson officiating. Mr. Harper will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Victory Baptist Church in Tifton from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Mr. Harper’s grandsons, Hunter Dowdy, Ty Dowdy and Wyatt Harper and his nephew, Wendell Mullis, will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Victory Baptist Church in Tifton.
Born February 11, 1950, in Tifton, Mr. Harper was the son of the late James Oliver Harper and Mary Lisenby Harper. He was also preceded in death by one son, Patrick Coleman, Jr.; three brothers, Langford Harper, Charlie Harper and Frank Harper; and one sister, Daphne Harper. Before retiring, he worked as an Engineer Technician at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Tifton, where he served as a deacon. He loved hunting with his sons and grandsons; and he was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam era.
Mr. Harper is survived by his wife, Judy Taylor Harper, of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Chris Harper of Kent, Washington and Brandon and Heather Harper of Tifton; two daughters, Amanda Coleman of Denver, Colorado and Katie Coleman of Newnan; one sister and brother-in-law, Martha and James Mullis; eight grandchildren, Reese Harper and Wyatt Harper, both of Tifton, Hunter Dowdy and Ty Dowdy, both of Newnan, David Harper and Beverly Harper, both of Little Rock, Arkansas, Austin Kneeler of Fairbanks, Alaska and Braun Harper of Nashville; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
