Obituary

Roy, Mary D. (Duggan), age 88, of Carmel Terrace, Framingham, formerly of Weston, MA and Morristown, NJ. died peacefully at home on October 15th. Beloved wife of P. Norman Roy for 65 years. Loving Mother of Mary E. Roy of Weston, Ann R. Hockey of Natick and her husband Peter Kahl, Kay Roy-Price of London, England, Michele Roy Perini and her husband Christophe of Luxembourg, Ellen R. Cook of Marlborough, Paul N. Roy and his wife Heidi of Northbridge. Cherished grandmother of Christian, Shannon, Fraser, Adelaide, Oliver, Nicolas, Alec, Brendan, James, Sarah, Katie, Aidan and Bridget. Great Grandmother of Dominic and Ava. Sister-in-law of Raymond A. Roy of Leominster and his late wife Lorraine. Pre-deceased by her parents, Elizabeth (King) and Peter Duggan and her sister, Sr Bernadette Cordis Duggan, MM.

Mary graduated from Mass General School of Nursing in 1958 and received an advanced degree at Emmanuel College. She was proud to be a Registered Nurse working at various hospitals, schools and The Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ. She was a long standing member of the Women’s Community League of Weston, the League of Women Voters in Weston, Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) and founding member of the Gucci Gourmet Gobbler Group of Weston. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved hosting family gatherings. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and always welcomed people into her homes. She and Norm traveled extensively for business and pleasure. They especially enjoyed spending time at their home on Inis Mor, Aran Islands, Ireland.

Mary was a devout Roman Catholic and was a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem and a parishioner and volunteer at St. Julia Church in Weston, MA.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd from 4-7 pm at George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home (www.gfdoherty.com) - 477 Washington St. Wellesley, MA. 02482. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday, October 23rd at 10am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Julia Parish, 374 Boston Post Rd. Weston, MA. 02493. A livestream of the mass can be found at www.stjulia.org. Burial will be private at a later date.
