Carol Ann (McDonough) Emery, 83, of Windham, NH passed away on Wednesday October 16, 2024 at her home following a brief illness. Carol was born in Wakefield, MA on September 13, 1941, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Curran) McDonough. Carol had been a resident of Windham for the past 25 years, formerly of Wakefield, MA.
After graduating from UMass Amherst, she worked as a Social Worker before becoming the Greenwood Branch Librarian in Wakefield. Later she studied to become the Human Resources Manager for Theta-J Corp., helping them grow substantially. Then she moved to Bake n’ Joy Foods in No. Andover consolidating 3 divisions and establishing many cost-saving and innovative programs.
Carol was an accomplished skier, golfer and ballroom dancer. She devoted much of her time to her church and to Joni & Friends. She established several book groups and maintained close relationships with many close and diverse groups of friends, some of which lasted for over 65 years. But, most of all she loved reading and spending time with her ever-growing family. She will be sorely missed by many.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jim Emery of Windham, one son, Gerald Kiley and his wife Felicia of Lawrence, MA, one daughter, Jennifer Bartlett and her husband Glenn of N. Reading, MA, stepdaughter Beth Friesen and her husband Brad of Hinesburg, VT, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three brothers, Robert McDonough and his wife Diane of Coarsegold, CA, Martin McDonough of Windham, and Mark McDonough of Reading, MA. She was predeceased by her brother, Gerald McDonough.
Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held at Londonderry Christian Church on Saturday November 9th at 10am. A private burial will be in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Londonderry Christian Church or Joni and Friends, New England.
