Obituary

WORCESTER____James A. Martin, 92 of Worcester and formerly of Uxbridge died Sunday October 13, 2024 in the Jewish Healthcare Center.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Hughes) Martin, five sons, David and his wife, Linda who have a special place in his heart, James and his wife, Robin, and William, Robert and Albert Surette, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. He was born in Uxbridge son of the late James Martin and Esther (Duquette) Fitzgerald. James served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. He worked as a service manager 15 years for Pelecan Oils in Uxbridge. He also volunteered on the Uxbridge Fire Dept. 13 years and retired as Captain. He also worked in evening maintenance at St. Vincent Hospital as a plumber for 15 years.

He met the woman who would become his wife – they became best friends and have been married nearly 39 years. Jim enjoyed bowling, at one time candle pins he also enjoyed playing cards and reading books. Many thanks and appreciation for the Doctors that helped to make his life easier. Also most especially to Julie Lee for being the most kind person professional physical therapist.

The funeral will be held on Monday October 21, 2024 from DIRSA – MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. Monday October 21, 2024 before the funeral. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph and St. Stephen Parish, 355 Grafton St., Worcester, Ma., 01604.
