Obituary

CHICOPEE – Elizabeth M. Simmons, 58, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Monday, October 14, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by all of her memories that she loved and cherished. She was born in Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan on October 22, 1965, a beloved daughter of Jacqueline (Lauzon) Simmons Wheatley of South Hadley and the late Ira A. Simmons Sr. She grew up in a military family stationed in various places around the world, graduated from Westfield High School in 1985, and moved to South Hadley in 2014 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a Heavy Machine Operator and CDL Driver and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 98 in Southwick. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, and loved being on the open road on her motorcycle. She was a member of the Quaboag Riders Motorcycle Club. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and many friends. Besides her mother, she leaves her loving and devoted daughter, Jocelyn T. Simmons of Chicopee; her dear brother, Ira A. Simmons Jr.; her dear sister, Nora Stepanian and her husband, Paul, of Groton, CT; and her many dear uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and many friends. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her loving stepfather, Myles T. Wheatley who was Called Home on October 24, 2011. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear. Her burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
