John F. “Jack” Pesa, Sr. (Ret BFD), age 90, of Bourne, formerly of Brockton, died peacefully on October 12, 2024 at Sunrise of Plymouth Beach. John was the devoted husband of the late Jean M. (Roberge) Pesa for 67 years. Born in Brockton and raised in Avon, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Annie M. (Gennaco) Pesa, Sr.
Jack was a graduate of Avon High School and attended Massasoit Community College. In 1969 he began his career for the City of Brockton as a firefighter, retiring in 1995 after 27 years. His life was rooted in his home, his family and the fire department, where he spent most of his career downtown on Engine Company 1. Jack was a member of IAFF Local 144. A true gentleman, Jack considered himself as a “Jack of all trades.” He enjoyed gardening and tinkering around the house.
Jack was the father of John F. Pesa, Jr. and his wife Martha of Plymouth, Robert R. Pesa and his wife Annabella of Norton, Joseph C. Pesa and his wife Cathy of Arizona, Jean McNamara and her husband William of Bourne, Kelly Martinez of Fall River and the late Richard Dino Pesa. He was the grandfather of 16, great grandfather of 10, uncle of Mark Casieri and brother of the late Joseph L. Pesa and Angelina Mary Casieri.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Tuesday, October 22 from 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery.
