It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Batch” Batchelder, who passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on February 5, 1945, in Arlington, Massachusetts, Batch was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Batch was a man of quiet generosity and an unwavering dedication to his family. He and his beloved wife, Joanne, shared a love for camping, and together they made their trailer a warm and welcoming place where their children and grandchildren could gather. Batch took great pride in making it a special retreat for family visits. Known for his practical wisdom, he was always ready to offer sound advice on home maintenance and repairs, eager to share his deep knowledge with others. He loved telling stories and was always interested in hearing about the experiences and adventures of those he loved. A devoted Bruins fan, Batch rarely missed an opportunity to follow his favorite hockey team.
Batch is survived by his wife, Joanne Porcaro, with whom he shared over 50 happy years. He is also survived by his children: Frank Batchelder and his wife Lisa, Robbie Batchelder, Ron Imperiali and his wife Rebecca, Steven Imperiali and his wife Kristin, Susan Imperiali and her fiancé Michael and Michael Batchelder and his wife Jill. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, who will always hold close the many memories they shared with him.
While his loss leaves a deep void, we take comfort in the love he gave so freely and the memories that will stay with us.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden from 9:00am-11:00am where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Batch’s life, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Joseph's Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden at 11:30am.
