NORTH GROSVENORDALE, CT – Eugeniusz Wojtarowicz, 85, died Tuesday, October 8, 2024 with his family at his side, at Day Kimball Hospital after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Wladyslawa (Zurek) Wojtarowicz; 3 sons, Janusz Wojtarowicz and his wife Anna of Krakow, Poland, Tomasz Wojtarowicz and his wife Anna of Chicago, and Karol Wojtarowicz and his wife Aneta of Webster; 6 grandchildren, Julia, Marta, Maximilian, Klaudia, Julia and Maja. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jolanta “Jola” Wojtarowicz in 2022 and by his sister Bronislawa Ramin.
He was born on June 23, 1939 in Bedzieszyna, Poland the son of Emil and Bronislawa (Zelek) Wojtarowicz. He graduated from the Salezjan School for organists in Przemysl and earned his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Slask in Katowice both in Poland. In the United States he worked at the Prosciutto Meat Company in Rhode Island for 10 years before retiring. He and his family emigrated from Poland to Webster, MA in 1999 and then to North Grosvenordale in 2004.
Mr. Wojtarowicz was the principal of the school in Rabka Zdroj in Poland. He was known as an outstanding teacher whose music students went on to the music academy’s in Europe and some went on to win musical contests. He received the Polish Golden Cross for contributing to the culture of Poland. He was the founder of the Wojtarowicz’s family accordion trio. He was also the choir director at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Worcester.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica in Webster. He enjoyed feeding the birds, taking trips to the ocean and was a great husband, father and grandfather. He preferred and prepared healthy foods and juices for his family.
The funeral will be held Saturday, October 19, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 9:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held Friday, October 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
