Ruben Madera, 55 a proud veteran of the US Marines Corp passed away on September 30, 2024.
The son of Francisco Madera and Elsie Campiz, Ruben grew up in Willimantic, CT. He was born on May 31, 1969, in Brooklyn, NY and attended Windham High School.
At the age of 23 on April 30, 1992, Ruben enlisted in the USMC. He valued his service highly and attained the rank of Sergeant. As part of this service, he worked as an Aircraft Electrical Systems Technician. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, NATO Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation.
He is survived by his wife, Sonia Madera and stepdaughter, Shimika Allicock, sister, Sylvia Howard, brother, Ralph Madera and sister Lenore Hutter and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A burial for Ruben will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 12noon in the CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.
