Obituary

BUXTON – Marjorie (Duprey) Childs, 86, of Lord Road, passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2024, at Maine Medical Center. Marge was born in Springfield, Vt, on August 1, 1938, the daughter of the late Ernest Duprey and Estelle (Greenwood) Hardison. After graduating from Chester High School in 1956 she lived in Springfield raising a family of three children. Following the death of her first husband, she later married Rodney Childs and moved to Newport, RI. In 1974, Rodney retired from the military and they relocated to the family farmhouse in Buxton. Marge was employed at Tory Hill Store and 3D Variety, working alongside many wonderful people and sharing lots of laughs. She enjoyed spending time winning poker games, happy hour with friends and beating her grandchildren in cards. Her main holiday was Thanksgiving and she looked forward to cooking every year for the annual family gathering. You could always find her at home watching the western channel with her beloved dog Ben while wearing her prized T-shirt “Don’t tell me what to do, you’re not my dog”. Many birthdays were spent venturing to the Oxford Casino to spend Ben’s inheritance. Marge was a lifetime member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #679, and VFW Auxiliary Post #771 in Springfield, VT. We would like to give a special thank you to Aunt Shirley Eastman for all the love and care she gave our mom the last three weeks she spent in the hospital and at home. Marge was predeceased by her husband Rodney; siblings, Robert and Donald Duprey. Survived by children, Kim Adams, Tami Adams (Peter Pinkham), Charles Adams (Nicole) of Buxton, Randy Childs (Patty), John Childs of Florida. Grandchildren Staci, Sarah, Kyle, Tyler, Great-grandchildren Jakob, Timothy, Noah; many cherished nieces and nephews. Marge will always be remembered as a good friend to many and best friend to her daughter Tami.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m., at South Buxton (Tory Hill) Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Hollis Center Church.
