It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Gerald “Jerry” McCarthy, known affectionately as "Pappy". He passed away at the age of 90 on October 8th, 2024. Jerry was reunited with his wife Marie “Cookie” McCarthy, his true love. He was a devoted father to Marie Estabrook and her husband Todd from Upton, Karen Roberts and her husband George from Medway, Gerald McCarthy and his wife Debbie from Chelmsford and Donna Maher and husband Tom from Amesbury. He was the proud grandfather to Todd Alan, Katie, Scott, Ashley, Brooke, Kevin, Kyle, Michael, Christopher, Matthew, Tommy, Sarah and Jon. He is also survived by his lifelong best friend, John Bulman. Jerry was raised in Malden. He worked at the Converse Rubber Company in Malden before he started his career with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier in Everett. He retired from the Post Office after 30 years of service. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Red Sox. He loved taking walks around Malden and Melrose, meeting and talking to people on his travels. He especially loved spending the holidays with all his grandchildren around him. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday October 16th at 9 AM followed by his Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM.
