Eileen (Tangney) Lynch, 78, of Worcester died Saturday, July 29 in St. Vincent Hospital.
She leaves six sons, Michael C. Lynch, Neil D. Lynch, Timothy J. Lynch, Brendan C. Lynch, Seamus “A.J.” Lynch all of Worcester and Patrick S. Lynch of Sturbridge; a daughter, Eilyana Lynch Verdini of Holden; a brother, Donald J. Tangney of Townsend; a sister, N. Mary “Mae” O'Brien of Worcester; twelve grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and nieces and nephews. A brother, John J. Tangney and two sisters, Margaret C. Rafferty and M. Isabel Welsh predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Bartholomew and Ellen (Brosnan) Tangney and graduated from Sacred Heart High School.
Eileen was a telephone operator for St. Vincent Hospital and the New England Telephone Company, before retiring. She was a lifetime member, officer and past president of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division #36 and her family has three generations involved in the organization. She was also past president of the Board of the Worcester County Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. She was an Irish step dance instructor and loved going to dances and listening to Irish music.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 2, from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10AM in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Tuesday, from 5 to 8PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 30 Speen St. Framingham, 01701.
