Obituary

Robert J. Ingram, Sr., 78, a longtime Lowell resident, passed away on Monday, October 7 at Kaplan House in Danvers after a brief illness. He was the widower of the late Eileen (Carroll) Ingram who passed away in 2003 after over 30 years of marriage.

He was born on April 22, 1946, in Arlington and was a son of the late Robert F. Ingram and the late Thelma (Larson) Ingram. He was educated locally and was a graduate of Burlington High School. After graduating, he continued his education at Bentley University before serving his country for 4 years with the United States Air Force. Upon returning from his military service, he finished his formal education at UMass Lowell, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

He then worked for Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington, MA, then moved to A.H. Notini & Sons for approximately 20 years as the credit manager, until he retired in 2014.

He was a constant presence in youth sports as his children and grandchildren came up through the ranks. He was a former treasurer and president of the Northern Middlesex Youth Hockey Association and coached in Lowell’s Highland Little League for many years. Sports, both professional and local, were a driving force in his life. Whether it was Banner 18 or if his kids or grandkids were playing, he was there for it.

He was honest, kind, sarcastic and willing to help any way he could, even coaching hockey one year from the bench as he couldn't skate. He was always there for his family, he was an average, no frills guy with an above average sense of humor and a passion for Boston sports, many have been cornered with his passion to talk Boston sports.

He is survived by his sons, Robert J. Ingram, Jr. and his wife, Renee, of Hampton, NH, Steven J. Ingram of Lawrence and Brian J. Ingram and his wife, Amy, of Four Oaks, North Carolina, beloved grandchildren, Derek, Cameron, Elizabeth, Shaun, Giada, Makenna and Jase, his 2 siblings, William Ingram and his wife, Charlene, of Madison, NH and Dorothy Ingram of Burlington.
