Obituary

Clarence Nathan Swain, 60, of Omega passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024, at Omega Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Mullis officiating. Mr. Swain will be laid to rest at Omega Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Swain will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Anthony Malmstrom, Marty Powell, Wallace Turner, Dave Dunsmore, Spencer Connell, and Kameron Swain will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Omega Baptist Church.

Born October 5, 1964, in Tifton, Mr. Swain was the son of Evelyn Mae Robinson Swain of Omega and the late Robert Lamar Swain. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law and step father-in-law, Verma and Terry Conley and his father-in-law, Raymond Connell. He worked as a maintenance technician; and he was a member of Omega Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Along with his strong love for his family, Mr. Swain enjoyed trail rides with his family and the Tift County Saddle Club. He also participated in the Longriders Wagon Train for 20+ years, which included a 100-mile ride from Eldorado to Calvary, Georgia. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, hunting, fishing and mowing grass for himself and his neighbors. He spent many hours in the mornings at the “farmer’s table” at Susie Q’s in Omega.

Mr. Swain is survived by his loving and compassionate wife of 40 years, Marsha Lynn Connell Swain of Omega; one son, Corey Swain of Omega; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenny and Renee Swain and Travis and Kathy Swain, all of Omega; one sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Fred Camp of Omega; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Marie Connell; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Belinda and Bob Myers; Angie Connell, wife of the late Raymond Connell; two grandchildren, Brayden Swain and Bryson Swain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
