Obituary

Thomas J. Crowell, 88, of Falmouth, MA passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on October 7, 2024.

Tom was born on August 20, 1936 in Dorchester, MA. His parents were Mary (Flaherty) and George Crowell. Tom was the youngest of their 5 children, he was preceded in death by his sister Katherine Kimball, and brothers George, William, and Robert Crowell. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1957, where he was a standout athlete, and captain of the football, basketball and baseball teams. Baseball was his true passion as he was selected to the Boston All-Stars Team that played against the New York City All Stars at Fenway Park.

After High school he attended Wentworth Institute of Technology, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering while working full time on the nightshift to put himself through school. He started his Engineering career at Raytheon and moved on to MIT-Draper Labs. While at MIT he met the love of his life and future wife, Suzanne Walker. He then worked at Sikorsky Aircraft, where he trained helicopter pilots on engine mechanics. Driven by entrepreneurial spirit, Tom founded RT Engineering, Inc., a successful electrical engineering company where he served as owner and president for 25 years. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Tom remained a devoted family man, proudly cheering on his children at all their sporting events.

He and his wife shared in their passions of spending time with family, golfing, boating and traveling. After retiring, Tom and his wife split their time between Falmouth and Fort Myers, FL. They were both members of the Pocasset Golf Club in Bourne, MA and Old Hickory Golf and Country Club in Fort Myers, FL. Those who knew Tom will remember him for his warmth, love, intelligence, great sense of humor and always made everyone laugh with his quick wit.

He is predeceased by his wife Suzanne and survived by his three children, Stephen Crowell and wife Karen (grandchildren: Ryan and Grace), Diana Crowell Goober and husband Marty (grandchildren: Jillian and Steven) and David Crowell and wife Traci (grandchildren: Bode and Dean).

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Oscar Romero Parish, 700 Washington St., Canton on Friday, Oct. 11 at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Falmouth on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11am.
