Dorothy E. Carrier, 96, of Derry, NH passed away at her residence on Monday October 7, 2024, after a period of declining health. She was born July 13, 1928, in Lawrence, MA and was a daughter of the late George and Anna (Zajicek) Simpson. Dot was raised and educated in Lawrence and was a resident of Derry for the past 30 years.
Dot was a quality control inspector for AT&T for 36 years, prior to her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. When Dorothy was younger, she was an avid skier and skater and loved the outdoors. The greatest love in her life was her family. Dorothy cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Members of the family include three sons, John Carrier and his wife Susan, Robert Carrier and his wife Jean, and Gene Carrier; three grandchildren, Jill Sawyer and her husband Aaron, Jamie Boucher and her husband Eric, and Gregg Carrier; four great granddaughters, Amelia Sawyer, Addyson Sawyer, Henley Boucher and Payton Boucher, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Jean R. Carrier in 2015 and by a sister, Helen Coskren.
Calling hours will be held on Monday October 14, 2024 from 2 to 4pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Following cremation, she will be interred with her husband at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
