LACONIA— Somchit Outhoummontry, 77, of Church Street, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Concord Hospital in Laconia.
Somchit was born May 1,1947, in Pakse, Laos, the son of Chianon and Choy Outhoummontry.
He was the beloved husband of Nith Outhoummontry. Somchit and Nith and their son, Daniene came to the United States in 1980 through the Refugee Resettlement Program, first living in Hooksett, New Hampshire. They settled in Laconia, NH where they worked and enjoyed family and friends.
Somchit was employed by Lakes Region Linen, Laconia. He was an active member of the Congregational Church of Laconia, United Church of Christ. His grandsons recall him taking them to Dunkin Donuts and then to Sunday School every Sunday. After church they enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Grandma Nith. The church will miss Som’s gentle and joyous presence, sitting in his pew up to the week or so before his passing.
Som had a great sense of humor. He loved visiting friends around Laconia and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. He often walked downtown Laconia, enjoyed walking with friends at the Belknap Mall, and getting out to shop for the weekly groceries with Nith.
Somchit is survived by his loving wife, Nith (Phasavath) Outhoummontry, and his daughter-in-law, Michelle Charles, grandsons, Daniene Outhoummontry and Thai Outhoummontry, a granddaughter Corissa Solomon, and great granddaughters, Felicity, Harmony, and Kalani. Som is also survived by four sisters, who live in France and a nephew in Las Vegas, Nevada. Somchit is predeceased by his son, Daniene Outhoummontry and his brother, who lived in Hawaii.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church of Laconia, 69 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH, with reception to follow.
A private burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
