Obituary

Retha Gina Barber, born on November 7, 1985, has passed away on October 3, 2024, in her hometown of Pawtucket, Rhode Island after a long illness. She was a unique individual known for her independent spirit.

Retha had a passion for music, and she enjoyed a diverse range of artists, from Panic at the Disco! and Queen to Taylor Swift and the soulful Motown sounds that filled her childhood home. Her love for the arts was evident not only in her creative projects but also in her self-taught journey in makeup artistry. When she was healthier, she enjoyed the great outdoors, archery, and learning to hunt. Retha also loved her pets with a passion.

Professionally, Retha worked at several retail establishments, including Hot Topic, Hot Leathers, Juicy Couture, and Ulta, where she brought her artistic flair and enthusiasm to every role. She was deeply committed to advocating for patients' rights, trying to have a positive impact on those around her.

Retha’s lighthearted nature shone through her favorite television show, "The Golden Girls," which she enjoyed as a comforting escape. One of her greatest joys was driving her 2006 Hummer H3, celebrating its milestone of reaching 200,000 miles.

Retha is survived by her brother, Richard Barber Jr., and his wife, Ashley, as well as her cherished nieces, Chloe and Aria. She is also survived by loved cousins, aunt, and uncle, as well as a close friend circle. Retha was preceded in death by her father, Richard Barber, and is mourned deeply by her mother, Darlene Barber.

Retha will be remembered as a one-of-a-kind spirit and made her mark on the hearts of those who knew her.
A private remembrance of her life will be held later this year.
