Carl “David” Horton, Sr., 78, of Tifton passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Gerald Mallard officiating. Mr. Horton will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born December 6, 1945, in Tifton, Mr. Horton was the son of the late Carl Eugene Horton and Dorothy Mae Haralson Horton. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Eugene Horton; and two sisters, Doris Marie Horton and Ellen Lorance Horton Brogdon. Before retiring, he was a maintenance technician at Exopack in Tifton; and he was a member of Wayside Missionary Baptist Church in Tifton. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Horton is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Hester Horton of Tifton; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Carl David Horton, Jr., James Robley Horton and Thomas Eugene and Shannon Horton, all of Tifton; seven grandchildren, Samantha Furlong, Kandice Horton, Josh Horton, Christopher Horton, Jacob Horton, Cassie Horton and Sallie Horton; and ten great-grandchildren.
