Joan V. (Joly) Plasse
1940 - 2024
SOUTHWICK - Joan Veronica (Joly) Plasse, 84, of Southwick, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Vantage of Hampden nursing facility in Hampden, MA. Born on January 15, 1940 in Holyoke, MA, Joan was the second of the five children of Armand and Helen (Day) Joly. Joan was raised in Holyoke and attended Holyoke schools. On October 4, 1958, Joan married her loving and devoted husband, Richard Albert Plasse. Together they raised their three children in Chicopee, MA before moving to Agawam and then Southwick. Joan and her husband had been communicants at Assumption Parish in Chicopee and then Sacred Heart Parish in Feeding Hills. Joan worked for many years at F.W. Sickles, Inc. and Dennison National. Joan was a devoted mother and grandmother who treasured her time with her family, always making amazing meals that her family enjoyed while spending quality time together. Joan also enjoyed quilting and made blankets and decorations that her family will always cherish. A devoted wife, loving mother and mother-in-law, and beloved grandmother and great grandmother, Joan will be deeply missed by her family. Joan leaves her three children, Richard Albert Plasse, Jr. and his wife Carrie (Cornwell) of Lake Placid, NY; Teresa Marie Plasse-Goosen and her husband Theodore of Virginia Beach, VA; and Mark Alan Plasse and his wife Kristine (Remillard) of Southwick, MA; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Plasse-Puzey and her husband Jason of Southwick; Dr. Richard Andrew Plasse and his wife Deborah (Adams) of Norfolk, VA; Erin Lindi (Plasse) Doane and her husband Jeffery of Poughkeepsie, NY; Theodore James Goosen, Jr. and his wife Rose (Guglielmo) of Ithaca, NY; Jason Tyler Goosen of Virginia Beach, VA; Mark Alan Plasse, Jr. and his wife Emily (Sgueglia) of Southwick; and Matthew Alex Plasse of Pawleys Island, SC; 7 great-grandchildren, Madison Jewel, Emilia Grace, Richard Adam, Adaline Findleigh, Jeffery Robert, Lillian Elisabeth, and Mark Alan III; her sister, Mary Lou Joly of South Hadley and Rachel Nunes of Seattle, WA who, in addition to being her sister-in-law, was her lifelong friend. Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her siblings, Armand Joly, Richard Joly, and Helen (Joly) Caisse. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, October 10, 2024 beginning at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
