PORTER- Lawrence C. Jewell, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
He was born in Porter, Maine on April 7, 1938, son of the late David and Helene (Fox) Jewell.
After graduating Porter High School he attended and graduated from SMCC (formerly SMVTI). He worked in Massachusetts for a few years before moving back to Maine. Larry was a reserve in the US Marine Corps. On June 23, 1962, he married the love of his life, Patricia who was by his side for over 62 years.
He is preceded by his parents and sister, Nancy Jamerson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Eldridge) Jewell, their children: Lincoln Jewell and wife Shelley and their children, Tyler and wife Abby and son Westen, Jacob, Beckett; Catherine and husband Roland and great grandchildren Leo and Vivian; Michael Jewell and daughter Meagan; Stephanie Jewell and children Saylor McCooeye, Roarke McCooeye and great grandson Brent. He is also survived by nieces Tanya Jamerson and husband David Martin and daughters Maya and Gabby; Tasha Carmean and husband Kyle and sons Cooper and Chace.
Larry enjoyed rebuilding old cars and was often seen in town in a 1932 Ford, one of many he rebuilt throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting, building muzzle loaders and single shot rifles, and was a life-time member of the NRA. He also enjoyed going for long car rides, traveling to various Street Rod events throughout the Midwest and the East Coast, and spending time with his family.
A graveside service will be held on Monday Oct. 14th at 2 PM at the Kezar Falls Burial Ground in Porter.
