Alan P. Kenney

ANDOVER: Alan P. Kenney, age 78, a resident of Andover for 54 years, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, October 4, 2024.
He was the beloved husband of Rebecca Kenney-Olofsson, with whom he celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on February 27, 2024.
Born in New York City on September 11, 1946, he was the son of the late Richard Kenney and the late Blossom (Gold) Kenney.
Alan was raised in Louisville, KY and Brooklyn, NY, and graduated from Lafayette High School in Brooklyn. Alan was a member of Lafayettte High School’s basketball team, and met with his teammates and coach Gil Ferschtmen, every year through 2023
Following high school, he attended Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, where he earned his Associates Degree,and Merrimack College in North Andover, where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Accounting. All college degrees and professional certificates were completed at evening classes.
Alan built a long, and very successful career helping others with all aspects of financial management. Starting as a CPA in 1969, he spent multiple decades helping clients navigate the complicated tax codes before focusing on wealth management. He created his own firm, Financial Management Associates, in 1999 which he successfully led for 24 years before transitioning the management over to his friend, Mark Hideriotis, whom he hand picked as his successor. Alan remained involved with the investment management, and got to enjoy renewed energy knowing the legacy that he so diligently created for FMA would continue well into the future.
Alan was a longtime Black Belt at his best friends dojo, Buzz Durkin’s Uechi Ryu Butokukai Dojo in Atkinson, NH.
In addition to his wife, family members include: Robyn Winters (Greg) of Montana, Kirk Sweeney (Yaoveret) of Hong Kong, the late Timothy Sweeney and Scott’s mother Theresa Madore, of Methuen, Elizabeth Meissner (Michael) of Ayer. Nine grandchildren: Richard Schottler (Grace) of MT, Robin Schottler(Abby) of PA, Ryan Alan Schottler of MT, Gwen Meissner of Ayer, Scott Sweeney of Andover, Chariya Kaeoinani, Beatrice Sweeney, Jacqueline Sweeney, and John Chester Sweeney all of Hong Kong. Alan was the brother of Adam Kenney (Stephanie) of NH, the late Joshua Kenney and his surviving wife Karen Flynn of RI, Patricia Lee (Brad) of TX. He leaves many nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
All are welcome to attend calling hours on Friday, October 11th, from 4-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. At the request of his family, funeral services will be held privately.
