Richard Joseph Galante, Sr., age 73, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 3, 2024, at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Teresa K. (Zaleski) Galante, to whom he was happily wed for forty-nine years.
Born in Boston, MA on March 19, 1951, he was the loving son of the late Domenic and Anna (Signori) Galante.
Richard grew up in the City of Boston and was a 1968 graduate of Boston Technical High School and attended Northeastern University. Shortly after marrying Teresa in 1975, they moved to Norton where they settled and made their home for the past forty-seven years. Prior to retiring, he worked for many years as an electrical engineer.
Richard’s family was the focal point of his life and very important to him, especially his grandchildren who held a special place in his heart. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved nature and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. Some of Richard’s favorite times were the Holiday’s particularly July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas where he could be found doing the cooking, grilling and lighting off fireworks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Richard J. Galante and his late wife Kristen of Norton, Michael D. Galante of Norton and David M. Galante and his wife Melissa of Taunton. He was the proud and cherished grandfather of Abigail, Madison, Hailey, Jace and Cole Galante. He was the dear brother of Robert Galante and his wife the late Virginia of Yarmouth, Kenneth Galante and his wife Barbara of Brockton, Nancy Pond of Norwood, Rita Davis and her husband Robert of Boston and Mary Permatteo and her husband Thomas of Southboro. He is also survived by his much-loved nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, October 11th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will be private.
