Obituary

Maureen (Moe) Ann Foley of Forestdale, MA passed away on September 30, 2024 at her home following a long illness. She was born May 14, 1951 in Boston, MA, daughter of William and Eleanor (Ross). She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers William and Brian. She is survived by her sisters Janet of Las Vegas, NV Denise of Rockland, MA and Joanne Foley-McDonald (Joseph) of Santa Rosa , CA; brothers Michael (Diane) Milford, MA, Timothy (Marilyn) of Reading, MA and Steven (fiancé Ivana) of Las Vegas, NV. Loving aunt to Michelle (Michael) Janikas of Milford, Ross Rodrigue of Salem, Kyle (Linda) Geder of Dedham, Kassandra Foley of Reading, Isabella Foley of Reading and grand-niece Siena Geder of Dedham.

In 2007 she realized her dream of buying her home on the Cape, which provided her and her family years of enjoyment. When Maureen wasn’t visiting with friends and relatives from coast-to-coast, you could find her year-round on the beaches and trails either walking, biking, or searching for that perfect piece of sea glass to add to her extensive collection.

Maureen was an avid skier; before her knees showed their age, you could find her tackling black diamond slopes around the world in places such as Chamonix and the powder mountains of the western US and Canada. Her love of travel also took her to Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean several times, as well as numerous road trips across the US.
Maureen spent her entire career working in management in the retail pharmaceutical industry before retiring in 2017. Her dedication and hard work earned her many accolades; one of which was an all-expense paid trip to the Grammy’s in Los Angeles in 2006.

At age eleven, Maureen and her family moved from Dorchester to Rockland. It was there that she made life-long friends. Those same friends were there to support her throughout her long battle with cancer up until her final days. Maureen was first diagnosed in 2011 and it appeared she had conquered cancer. However, the disease was relentless and eventually won the bravely fought battle.
In recent years as Maureen’s health declined, she continued to enjoy visits from family and friends sharing her favorite breakfast, lunch, and dinner spots on the Cape. Many nights Maureen enjoyed relaxing on her patio; reading and catching up on the Red Sox and Patriots.

We look forward to celebrating Maureen’s life and sharing memories at a remembrance reception that will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Caregivers of Cape Cod VNA Hospice.
