Obituary

Annette Richer 1927 – 2024
Annette Richer, 97 of Manchester, NH, died on September 30, 2024. She was born in Manchester, NH in 1927 to Conrad and Blanche (Cote) LaForce, Annette graduated from Rivier College and worked in the lab at Notre Dame Hospital. After raising her family, Annette was the manager of the CMC Gift Shop.
Annette Richer actually lived her best life. Humor and laughter were a massive part of who she was. Annette was an extravert who loved people; and they loved her back. She had impeccable character, integrity, and courage. She was truly magnetic and drew people to want to be with her. An unassuming leader, people looked up to and revered her. Annette was tough yet tender. She was an eternal optimist, a voracious reader, highly intelligent yet unpretentious. It is impossible to condense Annette Richer’s quietly remarkable life into a few paragraphs.
Annette’s most cherished role, and the one she played to absolute perfection, was that of a mother to her four children, David Richer (Claire), Lise Dowling, Louise Brassard (Norman), and Paul Richer (Allison). Never was there a better mother and mother-in-law. She loved her children unconditionally. She was an outstanding role model, teaching mostly through deeds and by the way she carried herself. Annette was light, loving and soft. She let her children become who they were meant to be, and she was their most ardent cheerleader.
She was a loving wife, partner, and inspiration to her husband Larry. Larry treasured her and together they formed a loving bond. She let Larry think that he was in charge, but behind the scenes she pulled most of the strings. And it worked.
As grandchildren get older, they can become preoccupied and sometimes just a little indifferent to their grandparents. But just the opposite was true in the relationship between Annette and her beloved grandchildren Derek Richer, Heather (Richer) Connelly, Beth (Brassard) Ayers, Brian Dowling, Scott Brassard, Ashley Dowling, Jeremy Brassard, Tyler Richer and Thomas Richer (sons of Eve Richer Mullen). She was a young soul who related well to young people. Annette found young people fascinating and they found her fascinating. She was the cool grandmother, completely non-judgmental. There never was much of a filter and it was refreshing. She was fun to be around. Her legacy will live on through her nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Annette was preceded in death by her husband, Laurent Richer, her sisters Francis Roy and Rita Sanborn, her brother Raymond LaForce and her daughter-in- law, Lisa Richer.
Her other passions included knitting, going to Wolf Park to watch her son David play softball, time with her many friends over lunch and family get-togethers with her treasured nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on a future date with the immediate family. Condolence donations can be made to Hillsborough County Nursing Home, Activity Department, 400 Mast Rd., Goffstown, NH 03045.
