Marion Anna ‘Mar’ (Zagarella) Buonopane, 69 of Tewksbury, passed away surrounded by her loved ones, on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington. She was the wife of James Thomas Buonopane with whom she shared the last 45 years.
She was born on November 23, 1954 in Everett, a daughter of the late Robert Zagarella and the late Frances (Malcolm) Zagarella. She was raised in Malden, where she attended the area schools.
Mar began her banking career in 1975, working for institutions such as Bank of America, Century Bank, and Cambridge Trust/Eastern Bank. She earned the title of Assistant Vice President before her passing. In 2005, she relocated to Billerica.
In her younger days, she enjoyed skiing; recently, she had taken up knitting as a pastime. Marion cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she adored. Being with her loved ones was always her top priority. An avid animal lover, Marion stayed active and found joy in traveling, particularly enjoying cruises to the Caribbean.
In addition to her husband, James of Tewksbury, she is survived by two daughters, Lisa Tardif and her husband, Timothy, of Hillsboro, NH and Christina DuBois and her husband, Rock, of Pepperell; two step children, Donna Servitelli, of Lowell, and Michael Buonopane and his wife, Laurie, of Billerica; and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert, John, Lena, David, and Richard; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister the late Ann Marie (Zagarella) Carey.
On Sunday, October 6, 2024 all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 2-5 p.m. at Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury 978-851-2061.
On Monday morning her funeral will begin at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. followed by her funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main Street, Tewksbury. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
