Mrs. Claire Marie Wentworth (Drouin), 84, a long-time Derry resident passed away peacefully on 1 October 2024. Claire was beloved by countless family and friends. She will be truly missed. Claire was born on April 16, 1940 in Laconia, NH to Raoul and Yvonne (Morin) Drouin. She was raised on Shady Brook Dairy Farm in Gilford. At the age of 10, she moved to Pittsfield, NH with her parents who were the proprietors of The Washington House Hotel. She spent her early adult life in Manchester raising a family. Claire retired in 2001 after 30 years as a Lighting Quality Assurance/Production Specialist at Sylvania/OSRAM in Manchester. She loved to laugh, read, take long car rides, and gathering with family and friends. Claire also indulged in extensive travels throughout the U.S. She enjoyed visiting out-of-town family members and was relentless in her quest to hit that elusive slot machine jackpot.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Kenneth Wentworth, Sr., proprietor of Eddie’s Saw Service in East Derry. Family members include her children, sons, Maurice LaBrie (Marie) of OH, Kevin LaBrie (Patricia) of AZ; daughters JoAnn Wilson (Ralph) of TX and Kim Cripe (Monty) of NH, and step-son Kenneth Wentworth Jr. of NH. Grandchildren include: Ashley Holtz, Reno Patrick, Hannah Patrick, Kagen LaBrie, and Joleen Thompson. Great grandchildren include: Zachary, Genevieve, Penelope and Devon. She is also survived by her sister, Therese Riel of NH. Close personal friends include Bill and Lisa Buxton, and their children Savana, Kristi, and Joshua, and many, many more.
She is predeceased by her parents, siblings, Robert Drouin, Paul Drouin, Victor Drouin and sister Joan Ferandez, grandson Ryan Patrick, stepdaughter Cathy Thompson, and granddaughter Shanna Thompson.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Monday, October 7th from 5 - 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Private burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society or the Solinsky Center for Cancer Care at The Elliott Hospital.
