Kennebunk- Arnold K. Ellis, age 89, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on September 29, 2024 at Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. He was born in Houlton, Maine on August 20, 1935, son of the late Kenneth and Alvean (Jay) Ellis. He attended Houlton schools and Maine Maritime Academy. Arnold had a successful career with the US Immigration and Naturalization Service that took him from Hamlin Maine border crossing, to Bangor International Airport, to Portland, Maine as the Area Port Director. He was selected to head the US pre-inspection program at Shannon Airport in Ireland and he and Marilyn lived there for five years. His duties included traveling to London to fill in when necessary. One of Arnold’s proudest moments was being asked to give a speech on Immigration at Oxford University. While living abroad, Arnold and Marilyn formed many lasting friendships. Arnold enjoyed wood carving, fishing and hunting. He looked forward to the annual hunting trip with his close friends at Fourth Machias Lake in November.
Arnold was predeceased by his wife Marilyn and brothers Donald and James.
Arnold is survived by his children- Michelle Barron and her husband John of Portland, Oregon, Steven Ellis of Portland, Maine, Daniel Ellis of San Rafael, California, Margaret Churchill and her husband James of Hampden, Maine and Mary Hughes and her husband Mark of Sarasota, Florida; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and brother Gerald.
