NORTH GROSVENORDALE, CT – Robert W. “Bob” Konkol, Sr., 73, died September 29, 2024 at home after an illness, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Carol A. (Martin) Konkol; his son-in-law, David J. Carlson, Jr. both of North Grosvenordale; daughter-in-law, Paula McKay of Webster, MA; 3 grandchildren, Garrett N. Carlson, Colby J. Carlson and Kailey Konkol; a brother, Julius “Buddy” Konkol, Jr. of Charlton; 3 sisters, Kathy Konkol-Saad of Webster, MA, Jeannette Konkol-Saad of Oxford, MA, and Dolores White of McAlpin, FL; his in-laws, Steven and Karen Martin of Lakeland, FL and Ronald and Georgette Martin of Sturbridge, MA; many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. He was preceded in death by his son Robert W. Konkol II in 2009, by his daughter Katrina M. “Nina” (Konkol) Carlson in March of this year, and by his brother Harold Konkol.
He was born on October 17, 1950 in Worcester, MA and raised in Charlton, MA a son of Julius Konkol, Sr. and Aurore (Thibeault) Konkol. He was a 1969 graduate of Charlton High School in Charlton, MA. He moved to Connecticut in 1978.
Mr. Konkol first worked as a crater and shipper for Webster Spring in Oxford, MA. He was then self-employed as a carpenter and general contractor with his business, R.K. Konkol Home Construction for 51 years, only retiring due to illness.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Webster, MA. He enjoyed riding his Harley, camping and vacationing with Carol, and spending time with his grandchildren.
His memorial Mass will be held Thursday, October 10, at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street, Webster, MA. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Thursday, in the church from 9:00 to 11:00 AM (parking at rear of church). The family requests that flowers be omitted and instead donations in his memory may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 18 East Main Street, Webster, MA 01570.
