Joan T. Joyce
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.


TEWKSBURY: Joan T. (Orpen) Joyce, age 84, a resident of Tewksbury for over 20 years, formerly of Wilmington and Charlestown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and hospice on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

She was the beloved wife of retired Boston Fire Lieutenant, John F. “Jack” Joyce, with whom she celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in May of this year.

Born in Boston on February 17, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Richard John Orpen and the late Irene Antoinette (Salvo) (Orpen) Hamilton.

She enjoyed traveling and cruising with family and friends, as well as knitting, quilting, winter vacations to North Myrtle Beach, SC, and caring for her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children, Susan J. Boudreau and her husband Daniel, of Tewksbury, Sandra J. Wilk and her husband Stephen, of Tewksbury, Roberta A. McPherson and her husband Bruce, of Tewksbury, and John R. Joyce and his wife Lisa, of Ayer: seven grandchildren, Adele McNamara and her husband Daniel, Emily Boudreau, Olivia Boudreau and her fiancé Emilio Pacheco, Patrick Wilk and his wife Marilyn, Rachel Kern and her husband Jack, Audrey Wilk, and Ryan Joyce: five great grandchildren, Addyson Hoffman, Jack Wilk, Logan Kern, Isla McNamara, and Anne McNamara: two sisters, Loretta Woods and her late husband John, of Charlestown, and Irene “Bunny” Fratalia and her husband Vincent, of Tewksbury.
She leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Relatives and friends will be received on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 4-7 p.m., immediately followed by a memorial prayer service, all to be held at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Boston Shriners Hospital at www.shrinerschildrens.org
